Cape May Court House, NJ – Middle Township High School (MTHS) students had full hearts and stomachs after receiving special homemade desserts during lunch on Tuesday, Nov. 21. Each sweet treat handed out had a note attached saying how thankful those at the district are for the students.

The “Tues-Giving” event was hosted by the MTHS Equity Committee. School staff spent several days collecting supplies and baking more than 800 cookies, brownies and cupcakes. The work was well worth it, especially when the staff saw the smiles on the students’ faces as they selected a delectable dessert.

“We are so grateful for our students and always want to give them another reason to smile,” said MTHS principal Sharon Rementer. “We want all of our students to feel welcome and valued all year round, but especially during the holiday season. This was the perfect way to kick off the season of thanks.”

“The “Tues-Giving” event was a way we could celebrate all our students and spread holiday cheer,” said Middle Township School District Superintendent Dr. Dave Salvo. “The efforts of the MTHS Equity Committee, staff, and volunteers to make the day special for our students is yet another reminder of why we are grateful to be a part of this district.”

The Equity Committee organized “Tues-Giving” to share the spirit of gratitude and Thanksgiving with all the MTHS students. Many of the students at MTHS receive free or reduced lunches, and some are unfamiliar with the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Middle Township High School Equity Committee enhances and improves efforts to ensure academic success for all students.
