Cape May Court House, NJ – Middle Township Public Schools’ (MTPS) Board of Education welcomes Stephanie DeRose as the new superintendent, starting in the 2025-2026 school year. DeRose is a highly qualified educator with more than 18 years of leadership experience.

DeRose has worked as a teacher of students with disabilities, an assistant principal, and a principal in New Jersey. Her current role is the assistant superintendent for grades 6-12 at Millville Public Schools.

A South Jersey native, DeRose is a member of many professional affiliations including the New Jersey Association of School Administrators and the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association. She earned a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Wilmington University and a Bachelor of Arts in Education, with a Teacher of the Handicapped endorsement, from Rowan University.

She is excited to join the MTPS family, and looks forward to getting to know the staff, students and community.

“Everyone has been so welcoming throughout this process, and I look forward to building strong relationships within the school community,” said DeRose. “I am excited to lead the district in creating an environment where every student can thrive, and every staff member feels supported in shaping the future.”

The Board of Education began the superintendent search process in September 2024, with the goal of having a new superintendent in place by the start of the 2025-26 academic year. The district received applications from many outstanding candidates and diligently reviewed each one to confidently select an individual that would be the best fit to lead the district.

“Stephanie DeRose is an accomplished educator with a great deal of leadership experience in education,” said MTPS Superintendent Dr. Dave Salvo. “She will be an asset to our district, and we are thrilled to welcome and support her as she continues our mission to provide students with an exceptional education.”

Salvo, who joined the district in 1995, has been the superintendent since 2014. He announced his retirement just prior to the start of the 2024-2025 school year.

When not at work, DeRose, an Ocean City resident, enjoys spending time with her husband of 21 years, Quinn, and their son Anthony.

DeRose will begin her new role as MTPS superintendent on July 1.
